Another family gathering happened just few weeks shy away to Nanay B's 83rd birthday ( see previous post: Clannish Dishes)_ commemorative birthday celebration of my Aunt Rosie (Yaose to us) who passed away two years ago.
Along with it,the daughter, my cousin Che, took advantage of the gathering and had her newly opened (not even fully finished its construction) commercial apartment blessed also.
Although, the party was food catered, it was so apparent how we love our clannish dishes. Foods were familiar as if they were cooked/prepared by the clan and not by a hired catering services.
On buffet table:
All family pinoy dishes, the only difference was they were cooked and prepared by other people and not by the clan.
.. the mechado, menudo, macaroni, caldereta_ were very "us". It was simply because, they were chosen by one of the clan who grew up with these dishes.
