Rare's Bday

December 5 is my cousin niece (she hates it when I refer to her as cousin:)) Rare and always her birthday commences our month of parties.

This girl doesn't care about how many or little the number of her visitors will be. All she wants is a bday party! Every year, she painstakingly prepares and invites. Let us see who came and were faithful enough to show their loves to this single lady on her recent bday.

But first let us check what's on the table. The invite said 6pm, it must be dinner, right?

pasta in white sauce

kaldereta

pansit

chicken aloha

fresh fruits and salads

We were first to arrive. Actually we came from a school whole day affair. It was a family day of my girls' school. That day was so hectic for us.

Myka was still sporting her kinky hair she used to her dance presentation early that afternoon.

The celebrant had special guest_ Gabs ehem :D He made a good first impressions and seemed to care a lot about Ms. Bday Gurl . Well, there's no use being discreet here, I reckon. Their facebooks are full of themselves as couple anyway.

The world knows ;D

Clannish Dishes

My Aunt Betty or simply Nanay as we fondly call her , has celebrated her 83rd birthday at her home.

She is the only living survivor of my mother's siblings of nine. She stands now as our (us, the nephews and nieces) mother and the only grandmother of our kids to my side of my family.

My mother's clan is quite a voracious eater. We love food and we also enjoy creating our own recipe versions. Most of us can cook, but definitely everyone can finish a plate quite neatly.

On the buffet table are foods the clan has grown up with. The same food we eat on Christmases, New Years, birthdays, christening (babies & houses) or on a get together weekends at home or out of towns.

Our family dishes are simple common filipino foods. I would say, just like what it is to most of the pinoy families, it's the fun and love we have when we are together that make our food so delectably delicious and special.

For this special occasion, our appreciation went to our Ate Lilia, the celebrant's daughter-in-law whose talent in the kitchen has been proven for decades now and had cooked most of the food on the table.

On buffet table :

- twisted pasta macaroni

- chicken in coconut milk

- menudo

- pansit

- pork & chicken caldereta

- kare-kare

There's also our favorite dinuguan (pork blood stew), puto, fruit salad, leche plan, ube, corn maja blanca and macapuno.

Happy Birthday Nanay B!!!
