Milky Way

We entered Milky Way and my girls blurted : "mom, inuman yata ito !" (looks like a beer joint). I said no. It used to be famous for good food when I was younger. You mean, you were already eating here in the 50's? Excuse meeeh! I wasn't even born then yet !

But when I checked the menu, no recall of good food . Had I really eaten in Milky Way in my younger years?

The girls cut me and ordered easy : barbecues. J wanted a plate of sisig and some veggies for me- lumpiang ubod.

J liked the sisig

bbqs - too salty for the girls, they didn't finish them

lumpiang ubod was okey for me

It had been a long day for us. Maybe next time, we'll come back to try their specialties. Just so I could recall my past with Milky Way.

Bistro Ravioli

We were MOA-ing the other day and cuzin' Che blurted what was ravioli meant. I said it's somekind of pasta which has filling inside and like common spaghetti serves with tomato sauce ( maybe not always tomato based but the ones I had eaten were in tomato) .

Then she pushed the group inside this resto _ Bistro Ravioli cos she thought she needed to experience the dish.

The Bistro is proud to show that pasta is freshly house/resto made. When we arrived , we saw a kitchen staff kneeding some dough in a see thru glass pantry. Pretty impressive !

Immediately we ordered green salad with bacon bits and croutons. Caesar dressed. Good but a lil' salty for my tongue.

Kyla took a kiddie plate_ spaghetti with cheese and hotdogs.

Bianx and her pizza pepperoni , ofcourse shared by everyone. On salty side too but great to eat with the sauce of the ravioli.

Myka's carbonara was good and I gave credit to the quality of the pasta rather than the sauce.

Finally, Che's ravioli. She opted for the latest filling, which was the house/resto's cornedbeef. It was delicious and we were surprised that it was heavy on the tummy.

J arrived to fetch us and had to cancel his pasta cos he got full already with our left overs even before his order was finalized. The servings were enough for sharing and very filling. Must be the house pasta.

Everyone was satisfied.

We had a send off home cooked dinner for kuya Vic & Remy's family. They are scheduled to fly back to Thailand today in the pm.

l-r : myka, troy, tricia , tyra & kyla

On the table were family's home cooked favorites :

porkchopsteak loaded w sweet onions

crispy boneless bangus

always present bacoor tahong & (not in the photo) fresh oysters

cheesy meatballs spagh, not for the kids only

Desserts :

I attempted to make banana split with my sweetened banana and scoops of bought icecream. . .

. . the product result was too sweet and too much !! stay with fresh banana if you're diy on the table.

We love the mango roll of RR, not too sweet and just light. hey Red Ribbon ! you're a favorite here! ! care to send some complimentary cakes here ! ! !

Cabalen

My (balikbayan) bb bff was salivating on Filipino food. We were in a mall and there was only one resto I was sure was very pinoy.

On buffet were all time favorite Filipino dishes like kare-kare, dinuguan, adobo , sinigang , bulalo. . .etc , daily dishes we usually have on our table at home and that my bbbff was longing for.

And there were some exotic specialties like ginataang kuhol and some native salads using indigenous ingredients. These were my must try.

My girls hardly ate. I saw their plates with one dish & rice. They only got back to the buffet table for halo-halo , which they found it amusing cos it was "make your own" thingy.

They were not that crazy about Filipino food since they eat them everyday at home. Kyla whispered something in my ears. .

The real reason why they showed not much appetite was minutes before Cabalen, Myka and her, stuffed themselves with Mcdo junks. They took advantage of the time I was with bbbff and indulged which they couldn't do with their mother around.

While bbbff enjoyed her plates of dinuguan/karekare/adobo . . .

I nibbled on these healthy bits : ensaladang mustasa , kalabasang ukoy , kangkong fritter , lumpiang hubad , atsarang labanos . They were all good and easy to prepare at home.

It was a happy lunch !

ps :

Hey, so there were free icecream. We didn't know that ! I only saw it now in this pic. Can we go back to claim them ? hehe!
