New Branch of 50's Diners

When in Baguio, 50's Diner is a favorite cos of its reasonable prices, big servings and fair-enough-to-enjoy-dishes. My girls and the dad particularly like their long list of comfort foods slash fat laden junks like burgers and fries. I love their salads and sandwiches.
The numbers of our Baguio visits are not actually proportionate to our 50's Diners numbers. More often than not, we ended- up missing this diner cos it's always jam-packed. Especially on meal time like lunch and dinner.
See my previous post on this, click here

So in our recent trip to the highland this month of May, we were glad when we saw a new branch along Military Cut-Off Road. We went there on a  breakfast and it was easy breezy. The day before we passed by during lunch and saw a similar crowded 50's. The older one is at Leonard Wood and by the time of our visit, was still very very crowded.

The new branch has exact interior as the original. I'm not quite sure about the movie posters on the walls. Maybe this one got newer movies or more vintage it should be!!!

The cute pink- uniformed waitresses were also present and the American 50's vibe was very much alive too in this branch.

It was breakfast so I got my pancakes. .as in PANCAKES!!! Have I mentioned above that everything here is served big?

It's not actually all- american dishes. It has a fusion of  Asian and American. Husband had our local tapsilog (fried rice, egg and marinated/dried beef slices) and boy was he happy with the beef  tapa. The serving portion was substantial, unlike in most tapsilog houses around our country.

Daughters had tosilog (instead of beef, it's marinated pork loin slices) and same thing very happy with the amount of serving.

Brewed coffee + fresh milk came free with our dishes.

When in Baguio with big tummies but forgot to bring your  fat wallet _ I recommend  50's Diners . Expect a heavy crowd thu', so go earlier than meal time.

50's Diners, Baguio City

This resto serves delicious American junks_burgers, ice cream and some pastas, salads and soups. There are also Pinoy street foods like fishball and kikiam on sticks. Actually the menu is a fusion of Filipino and International dishes.

Everything is on big serving and needless to say the place is not for health conscious diners. I luv their club house sandwich thu', it's huge, good for the entire family of four and the bread tastes freshly bake.

The ambiance is really 50's (don't get me wrong I wasn't born in that era!), just like the way I saw it in old movies. With neon lights, waitresses in navy uniforms of white and pink. The walls are also adorn with vintage movie posters of Hollywood celebrities.

The place was full of  local and foreign tourists which I assume just like us, came from visiting or staying at Camp John Hay or Baguio Country Club because it is located near the junction of those two famous places. Great snack -stop location after a tiring stroll of these sites.

The verdict : It's crowded which slow the service and not recommended for hungry stomach because you have to wait for an hour or more to please your ranting tummy. The foods are delicious because they are all comfort sinful foods.
