Done in mins. Gone in secs. Pizza

Already, to shoot food before eating  takes a lot of discipline, control to own self and to eating buddies who are just being polite but for sure deep inside their ranting tummies are quite annoyed for the delay.
Once in awhile, I try to feature some of my homecooking (check my archives) here. Not frequent thu'. It's a sweaty work. Shooting while cooking? wt#!
The other day thu', I found a shot of energy to shoot my food prep. Oh, just a pizza, hehe.  With less or max of 5 ingredients, no sweat really, haha.

Very simple. I used tortillas in place of a pizza dough. This one is a crunchy thin pizza, the way daughters like. I smothered the tortilla with olive oil, just lightly, then  pre-heated it in the oven toaster for less than 5 mins.

Meanwhile, those less than 5 minutes, I was able to prepare the toppings. Chopped the onion, sliced the bell pepper ( I forgot to grill it for flavours) and opened the can of sardine. To omit the fishy taste of the sardine, you can drizzle some lemon juice over it. I didn't have lemon that day thu'.

I took out  the tortilla off the oven and put the toppings with the quickmelt cheese. Then back to the oven for
less than 10 mins.

Done in minutes, gone in seconds, haha,

Burgoo

I live in the South (of Mla.) so my SM is the Southmall. Somewhere there, a new food lane is called the  Food Street. Still at the filling-up period, there are yet only less than two digits of restaurants to select from up to this writing. That afternoon, before watching Spiderman (movie) we chose to snack at Burgoo.

Our first at Burgoo.
Maybe the last too.
Maybe not..

cos we actually like their pizza sampler.

and we enjoyed the freedom table where we aptly drew and wrote our von voyage messages to the king of our home who was about to fly in the next few days then.

but thumbs down to the rest of the dishes in our table =( buffalo wings, quesadilla platter, fries and a pasta not in the photos cos it was served late. In this category, Don Henricos is a lot better.

TD (thumbsdown) also for the value of money.
Maybe it was our 1st & last.

Smileys for the attentive servers and good ambience :)

Laing Pizza

LAING PIZZA. How's that as authentic flavor from the province (Bicol) where this local dish laing hailed.  Found it inside the CWC, Camsur . Blending in with other pasta and pizza dishes in the CWC Clubhouse menu, this laing pizza was a catch. Somewhere, I was asked to try laing pasta, and it wasn't bad either. But this laing on a pizza crust was much better.

Laing is made of taro leaves in coconut cream spiced with tiny chilies. It's very flavorful and therefore great not only as a solo/side dish but as an ingredient for new concoction such as this laing pizza.
Make sure to take a bite of this pizza! _ when you come to visit CWC, Camsur.

Doni's Pizza

When I asked the server at Doni's : what's your best seller pizza? He quickly replied - the roasted potato, so we ordered a 14" .

While waiting, we noticed how nice and new was everything in the place.

Luv the chairs !

Curious as always, I asked the staff when did they open? Just three days ago! Prior to our visit which was this recent weekend. How come they already had a best seller? Then I sifted more : origin?, franchised from other country? or the only one so far? It's the original one so far and Korean owned. Well, I would have had asked more but the 3 days best seller roasted potato pizza arrived.

Roasted potato pizza. Not sure if other pizza houses have this but it was my first time to try a pizza with roasted potato toppings. And oh mynamnamy, it was delightful! The combination was delectable.
Well, I forgave the server who announced that it was their bestseller without a hundred ( I doubt if they already .. in 3 short days?) pies sold out. Cos, I personally claim ( back up by my family:))) that this gonna be one best selling pizza!!!

My girls wouldn't miss to order a spag carbonara whenever available.

And since according to their already set _ mom's cooking is the best- palate, they always based their thumbs up or down to our carbonara at home. I don't have to check their thumbs, they swift the plate clean in a minute! I had a fork load taste of it and yes I agree it was good! I checked what made it a bit strangely tasteful and found out the not so tiny bits of garlic, lots of it.

Ofcourse, older daughter wouldn't miss the buffalo wings. Only here they call it generically Sweet & Spicy Chicken.

Might be that was why it was not served with blue cheese/sour cream dip. But it did taste like a perfect buffalo wings! Only chicken parts were not wings, might be that!

We love everything here at Doni's, so far so good. It's a pizza house and only serving pizza, pasta and chicken. There are other concoctions of these three main dishes which we're excited to try next time.

Daughter with the owner of the place.

Doni's is located along Aguirre Street at BF Homes Paranaque, right across El Buono Pizza, that claims the world's largest pizza. How's that for a face to face competition?

Dear Darla

Dear Darla,

How's your gastronomy doin'?
As for me, ..not doin' well. You see, these past weeks my kitchen remains famished of fresh & nutritious supplies. I hardly cook now a days. If I did _ it would mean using a can opener (corned beef/sardines/spam), chopping a clove of garlic and a bulb of onion. Sizzles them together in  a pan and throw-in the contents of the can.
You see, these days, my hubby is always out on weekends for a basketball season in the office which is creating havoc in my weekends fresh market schedule. Can't do it all by myself. The market is quite far and commuting is not an option. hello? How can I carry those gazillion kilos?

So mostly, you would see our faces dining in  fastfood chains. Ouch !! Really, I'm hurting in so many ways. It hurts me to let my family eat junks with delight. Ofcourse they love fast food especially my 10 year old girl and the dad. Two members of my family whose weight and health should be taken with utmost care. My and my college girl's shared diet is also in jeopardize with these unhealthy carbs.. and a big ouch to my budget! Omg! Imagine how multiplied by nth times dining out is costing us. huhuhu! I'm not likin' it, really I hate this situation.

For the meantime, I'm trying to work it out a lil' right. For instance, last night , the family opted for another quick pizza dinner. So acted quick by announcing that I was going to choose which variant.

And I chose you Dear Darla ! Cos atleast you had some fresh alfalfa sprouts and arugula leaves. The fact is since I had I tasted you last year, you became my favorite pizza. To me you are much healthier than other vege variants cos others are loaded with heavy cheese, not healthy!

nice, sweet! they left a slice for me! whaat?? just one?

You are also fun to eat.  Take a slice. Top with arugula and alfalfa. Drizzle (optional) with spices. Roll it. Bite. Chew. Happiness.

You are beautiful Dear Darla.. .once in a while.

Yours Truly,
My 3rd & 7th Sense

Bistro Ravioli

We were MOA-ing the other day and cuzin' Che blurted what was ravioli meant. I said it's somekind of pasta which has filling inside and like common spaghetti serves with tomato sauce ( maybe not always tomato based but the ones I had eaten were in tomato) .

Then she pushed the group inside this resto _ Bistro Ravioli cos she thought she needed to experience the dish.

The Bistro is proud to show that pasta is freshly house/resto made. When we arrived , we saw a kitchen staff kneeding some dough in a see thru glass pantry. Pretty impressive !

Immediately we ordered green salad with bacon bits and croutons. Caesar dressed. Good but a lil' salty for my tongue.

Kyla took a kiddie plate_ spaghetti with cheese and hotdogs.

Bianx and her pizza pepperoni , ofcourse shared by everyone. On salty side too but great to eat with the sauce of the ravioli.

Myka's carbonara was good and I gave credit to the quality of the pasta rather than the sauce.

Finally, Che's ravioli. She opted for the latest filling, which was the house/resto's cornedbeef. It was delicious and we were surprised that it was heavy on the tummy.

J arrived to fetch us and had to cancel his pasta cos he got full already with our left overs even before his order was finalized. The servings were enough for sharing and very filling. Must be the house pasta.

Everyone was satisfied.

All Time Favorites at Don Hen

At Don Henrico's, Marla wants nothing but a plate of buffalo wings. She would order for the smallest plate of three pcs. Surely, she could not finish them all by herself which she would gladly share with us.

Wait, something's peculiar here_ they don't look like wings to me..?

She was told, they had ran out of wing parts, so Marla opted for other parts. But the flavors were the same. She actually loves the sour cream that goes with the chicken.

While Marla loves the buffalo, Kyla is not so keen about it. She stays faithful to her favorite_

Pizza !!

You could never disturb her if she's busy with pizza !!!

And how about me_ I go for Don Hen pasta. Especially, the one topped with nuts..err..forgot the name.. I could taste it now with my tongue. I want a plate of that pasta pleaseee..

Benissimo Pizza n' Pasta

When the house chef ( yours truly!!) is not well enough ( hey, I'm only human..I get sick sometimes :<) to manage the kitchen, expect these voracious people in my home out in the neighborhood, sniffing out for something to nibble as a slapdash for my homecooked food.

Eating out is their chance to eat junk with permission. My girls suggested this pizza bar in the neighborhood. Benissimo, sounds Italian with all those "ssimo" at the end of a word.

This is good for hungry jacks like us, menu choices are quick and easy. With only two flavors of pizza to choose from, 2 pasta dishes and some cheesy fingers, there are no better way but to try all. There's nothing much there, anyway!

- Kyla is usually urgent

- while Myka is always patient ( see the result ;)

The pizzas are great, pasta is dry, fingers are too oily, staff service and (home) living room ambiance are superb.
