Hawaiian Bar-B-Que, Boracay

We had a quick one time late lunch at Hawaiian Bar-B-cue which location was just 5 feet away from our hotel.

It has 2 outlets out of Boracay. One is in Manila Bay and the other one is in Tagaytay. We had never been to any of them. I assumed by the name of the place that bbque here was pineapple marinated and on the sweet side.

bianx played sand while waiting

bianx bbq meal which she loved and wanted to eat the same plate the next day

che's chicken bbq, mine originally but changed my mind

she took the chicken bbq , but forgot to change the breast part order to her favorite chick part- thigh?

my fish in garlicky olive oil was the best, i paired it w baked potato in chives & other herbs

not bad at all :D

Breakfast at Astoria, Boracay

I always enjoy hotel breakfast as I'm a huge buffet fan. I want my plate to have variations from a buffet table. A little of everything is a taste of many things.

Astoria, Boracay's breakfast buffet didn't disappoint us. It had everything we like for our first meal of the day. We did for the whole duration of our stay, and everyday, buffet offered something different from the previous day. Except my niece Bianx fave pancake, no hotcakes ! Here are the dishes from our first morning :

chicken macaroni soup / cereals & milk

pork adobo, best paired w fried rice

daing na bangus (marinated milkfish, fried)

hotdogs for the kids & kids at heart

fried rice

eggplant

breads & butter

fresh fruits

egg omelet made to order of your choice of fillings

There were hot & cold drinks, but my bet was the hot choco which awaken the rainy morning.

Good morning !

Shakes The Bora Heat

No doubt, the best way to beat the heat of hot Boracay is to hold a bottle/glass of fruitshake, sip on it while exploring the beaches.

Infinite numbers of fruit shakes kiosk paraded at the beaches..

plum shake

Cc. bubble is one. I got excited with the plum flavor and didn't think twice to order it inspite of cousin Che's high eyebrows in doubt.

Just a sip and I knew the plum shake wasn't working on me. I sipped thrice and gave up. It was sour and salty. Chinese nationals would love it though.. it tasted like their plum candies. Niece Bianx loved her milo/choco shake.

Another one is the famous Jonah's. It's take-out bottles come handy during a busy ocean/beach adventures.

But we liked Loco Frio the best ! Although a bit pricey (costs more than twice compare to the other brands), it comes with a pretty bottle, especially made for frozen alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks of the store. Tasted the best too !!

Cheers ! ! ! !

Subway Election Promo

If I could, I'd rather rave than rant . But life is imperfect and there are just days that I get disappointed . One of these days was on our recently national election held this same month of May.. Oh no, this is a food blog, I'm not going to rant about the pcos machines, cheating controversies . . etc.

I love Subway sandwiches, so glad when I read about their buy one take one election promo.

The promo still ran until the next day after election, so we went to MOA branch.

The only essential factor was the indelible ink marked on a finger nail as indication that you did vote to avail the promo.

We planned to munch these sandwiches inside the movies, so we dropped first at the store to buy some. On our first try, we were told that the breads were still baking and not yet available. We asked how much time? 45 minutes to an hour more. We saw many other customers who were also asking about the promo and received the same answer. We asked if we could reserve our order and paid it already, so we would just pick it later when it's ready. A big NO was the answer. Cousin said it was okey, we would just get back and why not went to another store first to buy her traveling bag.

We did. After almost 2 hours, we went back to Subway and was retold that the breads were not yet ready ! I asked : you meant, these were another set of baking breads? Did we miss the ones we saw inside the oven when we came in on the first time? ( the oven was transparent and costumers could see what's baking). The staff said : no , it was the same set and just took awhile to be baked. Huh?!

Finally we asked, so exactly what time would the breads be ready? : 5 minutes before closing of the mall ! What ????!!!

We walked out and dined in a Filipino restaurant.

Buffalo wings N' Things

Serves all Mexican American finger foods, Buffalo Wings N' Things loaded us with calories and chilies.

We split a pound order of buffalo wings in two and drawn them with armagedon and honey bbq sauces.

Armagedon was for the darest J, the hottest sauce really set him in red and perspired to the max. I tasted a bit and couldn't beat it!

I shared Myka's wings in honey bbq sauce which was on the sweet side.

The wild rice had lots of diced tomatoes which others might call Mexican rice.

Mustard girl? Nah, she was actually taking out the mustard sauce and the rest of the toppings. She liked her sausage plain and nothing on it.

I always love nachos with salsa and cheese.
